The Tripp Trapp® boom continues
At the Kind und Jugend fair in Cologne 13th – 16th of September, Stokke will launch a range of news to their product line. But the best news for Stokke, is still the Tripp Trapp® chair for children, winning the Stiftung Warentest a third time in a row and selling more than ever – after 35 years in the market.
August/September 2007
The creation of Tripp Trapp® is a legend in its own. Peter Opsvik could not find a suitable chair for his son that would make them join each other around the table in a good matter. The adjustability both in heigh and in depht of seat and footrest, made his son – or any other child in age or size – able to be seated in the perfect height, as well as providing a footrest bringing the floor up to the childs feet.
When launched the overall impression of the chair was unique compared to any other chair at the market. This uniqueness gives Tripp Trapp® its market advantage it has benefited from since. 35 years on Tripp Trapp® is still an important and growing product for Norwegian manufacturer Stokke. This month Stokke celebrates the delivery of Tripp Trapp® number 6 million to a lucky child somewhere in the world. The chair – unchanged since the launch in 1972 – now sells better than ever. Winning the test of high chairs by the renowned German tester of consumer goods Stiftung Warentest for the third time in a row recently, shows that Tripp Trapp® continues to be an innovative, comfortable and safe product for children.
The success of Tripp Trapp® rest not only on that this is The chair that grows with the child™ and the joy of life around the table, but also on continuous renewal of accessories. These accessories adds further improval of relationship between the child and the surroundings, safety and comfort. This includes such features as a baby set, a safety harness and cushions. Both the beechwood base and the accessories are offered in a variety of colours. The option to choose between ten colours on the chair, as well as a range of colours and patterns on the accesories, gives endless mix-and-match possibilities for the trend concious.
The product news available after the startup of the Kind und Jugend fair, includes an improved ease of use buckle on the Tripp Trapp® Harness as well as two new colours – red and blue.
Awarded – and copied – success
Sales of Tripp Trapp® says it all, but the chair has also has received a lot of awards through the time (see “facts”).
Stokke welcomes competition as long as it is fair: A less enjoyable competition comes from copycats all around the world. Tripp Trapp® has been copied hundreds of times. Though the copying is an undisputable proof of success, Stokke does not sit still and watch in this matter.
