Why is a firm mattress so important?

To reduce the risk of suffocation and CO2 Retention, Pedriatrics recommend the baby should sleep on his/her back on a firm mattress. A soft surface may conform to the shape of the baby’s head and increase the risk that the baby breathe in his/her own exhaled breath (carbon dioxide). The Stokke® Sleepi™ Mini mattress is made with multiple layers of breathable 3D mesh with a Sorona® Bicomponent Stretch fiber core to offer firmness, maximal airflow and to exceed the highest safety standards.
